🔥 BLOODIED BUT UNBROKEN: OUR BODIES ARE NOT CRIMES

Statement by Rainbow Africa Initiative–Uganda

We are DONE begging for our humanity.
In Uganda’s villages, in hidden clinics, in police cells where sex workers are beaten — our people bleed and die while the world debates our right to exist.

🚨 Abortion is called “murder,” but the state murders us daily:

  • Queer youth forced into “conversion” torture
  • Sex workers bleeding in alleys after unsafe procedures
  • Rural girls buried in silence after botched births

🚨 Maternal healthcare? A fairy tale for the privileged.
The rich fly to Nairobi; the rest of us pray to survive.

🚨 They call us “criminals” for wanting control of our bodies
— while politicians steal billions meant for our clinics.

âš– WE DEMAND:
✅ Safe abortion NOW — no exceptions, no apologies.
✅ Maternal healthcare that reaches OUR villages — not just Kampala’s elites.
✅ Protection for our community health workers — the queer aunties, sex-worker sisters, and feminist rebels risking arrest to save lives.
✅ Bodily autonomy as BIRTHRIGHT — for pregnant people, sex workers, trans men, and every body they try to erase.

🌍 FROM THE GROUND UP:
This isn’t a plea. It’s a reckoning.
We are the rural queer girls stitching each other’s wounds.
The sex-worker youth hiding pills in bras to save sisters.
The feminists mapping secret abortion networks.

To the state, the churches, the NGOs profiting off our pain:
We see you. We name you. We will outlive you.

✊ OUR BATTLE CRY:
From the hills of Mbale to the slums of Katwe — WE ARE THE FIRE THAT WILL BURN YOUR SILENCE.
